OK Will-e your point about the vending whatever is well taken..but i have
to disagree when it comes to narrowly defining the scope of the music that
can be discussed on idm.
First, like most folks, i'm certain that quite a few listen to very
eclectic types of musics. Therefore i can say with reaonable certainty
that most people will not mind reading reviews on music that you may deem
on the fringe of YOUR DEFINITION of idm. Which brings me to another
point, what makes you think that everyone will be able to agree on a
satisfactory definition idm. And even if we were to have a working
definition would the next step be to "blacklist" certain groups because
they aren't dancy enough? But, wait that won't work because these
musicians do not work in a vaccuum so maybe some of their tracks will be
acceptable while others will not. Yes, perhaps that's it, we can discuss
"Perpetual Dawn" because it made WILL-E move but we cannot discuss "Huge
Pulsating Brain That Rules the ....". Or did you start to move a
little when the bass kicked in? Well, Shit, maybe we can talk about
parts of "Huge Pulsating Brain...." lets say the beat driven part from
8:15 to 10:45 . OK ?
I hope you get my point. I don't mean to run you down, but truth be
known...I don't even think we want to waste time defining the music we
love. The descriptiions are never accurate and they just create more
useless e-mail. You may be able to technically pinpoint a track but you
can never describe the feeling of experiencining the purity of emotion
when listening to sounds you have never heard before. Furthermore, i
don't give a shit what your definition of idm may be. Get off your high
horse and learn the truth ..... your definiton will be limiting and
counterproductive.
